Boards & Commissions

The Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) has a number of boards and commissions that act to advise and direct various activities of our local government. They are established by the Fairbanks North Star Borough Code of Ordinances, specifically the section on Boards and Commissions. Once established, generally, the Mayor appoints and the Assembly confirms new members and re-appointments.

Meetings

Boards and Commissions have established regular meeting schedules, which are shown on the Borough Calendar of Events. For more information on a specific board or commission visit their webpage.

Division of Boards and Commissions Clerks

This division is within the Department of the Assembly and is responsible for meeting management of all borough boards and commissions to include coordinating with borough administration, department staff, and boards and commission chairs to set agendas, processing appeals of administrative decisions or decisions of boards or commission, offering parliamentary guidance during meetings, and keeping an accurate record of proceedings

For additional information contact the Borough Clerk's Office at (907) 459-1401 or email clerks@fnsb.gov

Apply to be a Commissioner

The borough is always looking for citizens to volunteer in various boards and commissions as vacancies occur. Members of boards and commissions must be qualified voters of the borough and remain residents of the borough while in office. Civic-minded individuals who wish to contribute some of their time in support of local government are invited to complete a Boards and Commissions application (PDF).
