Computer Use
Databases
Access to our databases is available through all of our computer terminals. Printing is available.
Our databases may be found here: fnsblibrary.libguides.com/az.php. For remote access at home, please have your FNSB library card barcode number handy, enter the whole number without spaces when prompted. Please note that our temporary eLibrary cards do not grant remote access to our databases. If you’d like to learn more about "real" library cards, or get one of your own, please call Circulation at 907-459-1049.
Desktop Computers
FNSB Libraries provides public access computers at the Noel Wien Library.
You may use your library card or guest pass (available at the Reference Desk) to login to a computer. Sessions are available first come/first served or by reservation.
All terminals have the ability to print with a cost of 10 cents per page for black and white or 50 cents per page for color.
Computers will shut down 15 minutes prior to library closing. All print jobs must be complete at that time.
For assistance with computers, please ask at the Reference Desk or call us at 907-459-1045.
Laptop Computers
Please note: as of 3/18/22, our laptops are in the process of being repaired and will be unavailable until further notice. FNSB Libraries provides ten self check-out laptop computers at the Noel Wien Library. Laptops can be checked out with a current and valid library card. Guest passes will not work for laptop checkout. Laptops may be checked out for in-library use only, and are due 15 minutes before library closing time. All laptops have the ability to print with a cost of 10 cents per page black and white or 50 cents per page color print.
Microfilm
A microfilm machine is available at the Noel Wien Library in order to fulfill patrons’ research needs. Scans can be printed or saved to USB drive. The library is also able to email digital scans to patrons.
Do you have research needs involving microfilm? Let us know! Call the Reference Desk at 907-459-1047 or use our Book-a-Librarian form to request research assistance. We’re happy to help.
Scanner
Patrons may scan documents to a USB thumb drive via our RIOCH print/copier machine. Unfortunately, we do not have the capability to email digital scans. USB Drives are available to borrow at the Reference Desk, although we encourage you bring your own to save your documents.
Special Access
Several accessible and vision assistance computer work stations are available for our patrons. Let us know when making your reservation that you would prefer one of these terminals. Printing is available.
WiFi
During the COVID-19 health crisis, wifi is available 24/7 at our facilities at no charge and with no password.
For those wishing to use the Library’s wifi outside of our building, it is recommended to safely park as close to the library buildings as possible without blocking fire lanes, in order to get stronger signal.
