Noel Wien Library is closed for renovation and expansion!
During the Noel Wien Library closure in 2023-2024, there are no computer services available at this location. Please click the other two tabs to view services available at North Pole Branch and at Joy Community Center or view the images below to see a list of alternate sites.
Alternatives for public wifi while Noel Wien Library is closed
Public wifi continues to be available at the North Pole Branch library along with all other library services! There is no public wifi at the Joy Community Center location. Alternatives for wifi include the UAF campus, Rasmuson Library, or some local coffee shops or book stores!
Desktop Computers and print service
FNSB Libraries provides public access computers at the North Pole Library.
Patrons may use a library card or guest pass (available at the Help Desk) to login to a computer. Sessions are available first come/first served or by reservation.
All terminals have the ability to print. Cost to print is .10 per page for black and white or .50 per page for color.
Computers will shut down 15 minutes prior to library closing. All print jobs must be complete at that time.

Fax
A self-service fax machine is available at the North Pole Branch for a fee. Patrons may fax out, but are not able to receive faxes at the library. Prepaid fax cards can be purchased at the Help Desk. The cost to fax to the United States, Canada, or the Caribbean is $1.75 for the first page, and $1.00 for each additional page. For all other countries, the cost is $3.95 for the first page, and $3.45 for each additional page.
Scan
North Pole Branch Library has a scanner available. Patrons login to the public computer attached to the scanner with a library card or a guest pass (see the Help Desk). Cost to print is .10 per page for black and white or .50 per page for color.
Reference and Adult Services staff offer LIMITED 45-minute computer sessions for basic information needs or quick printing at
Joy Community Center, 24 Margaret Avenue in Fairbanks
Note: There is no public wifi at the Joy Library
- One appointment per day per person
- Schedule by phone with Reference and Adult Services Staff: 907-459-1047
- 45-minute appointments can be scheduled
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday on the hour: 10am to 1pm
- Wednesdays on the hour: 1pm to 5pm
This limited service is intended to meet individual basic needs:
- Basic quick printing—black and white on 8.5 X 11 white paper ONLY
- 10 cents per printed sheet
- Access to personal email; quick online searches
- Please visit or phone the reference desk at 907-459-1047 for online searching assistance and answers to your reference questions
The service at Joy Community Center is limited due to space and technology availability. With these constraints, we are unable to offer public wifi nor to offer the following options:
- Zoom calls, interviews or other interactive computer uses
- Personal entertainment, YouTube, movies etc.
- Color printing nor oversize printing options

- Online courses, tests, meetings
- Faxing, Scanning, Copying
Walk-in Access
- Walk-in appointment requests will be honored but are subject to appointment and technology availability. If no openings are available, walk-in patrons will be asked to schedule an appointment for a future session.
